Internet Marketing Lifestyle in Seoul, Taiwan and Biz Updates!

We are approaching the end of the year soon. Have you achieved any of your New Year’s resolutions?

I’ve been traveling around Korea and Taiwan in the past few months. They are great countries to visit.

Anyway, I didn’t just spend time going to other countries – I’ve also worked on many things in my projects to reach my goals too.

You can check the updates here 🙂

First time in Korea

If you want to find a place to fuel your life with good weather and low budget, I think taking days off in Seoul is a great choice.

I spent 5 days here in July. It was my first time here and I found it to be a good place to relax after continually working for many months (trust me, I worked very hard!).

What I really like here is the FOOD. Korean food is really delicious and I noticed that most of the menus are spicy and contain cheese.

There were pork ribs with cheese, noodles with cheese, eggs with cheese, scallop with cheese….

I ate a lot of cheese lol.

Food aside, there are many interesting historical attractions in Korea. I can’t remember the name of the places, but here are some photos I took there.

I quite enjoyed visiting these places in Korea.

The transportation in this city is also very good. I can reach every place with the metro. There’s also no need to worry about getting lost because English was almost everywhere in this city.

If you like shopping, especially for women, there were many markets where you can buy tons of things such as clothes, bags, accessories, cosmetics, and so on at a cheap price (at least, my girlfriend told me these things were cheap. Yes, I believed her! lol).

These are some other photos I took in this city.

To sum up, I enjoyed visiting this city and it will be another city added to my favorite list that I will come to again. This time I only traveled in Seoul, so I would go to other cities next time.

Maybe I will go to Busan next year as I watched the movie “Train to Busan” and loved it. Hopefully there will be no zombies though!

Chill Days in Taiwan

A few weeks ago I was in Taiwan for 11 days. I came here last year but at that time I only visited Taipei.

This time I went to five cities including Taichung, Cingjing, Sun Moon Lake, Alishan, and Taipei. I found Taipei and other cities outside the capital to be completely different.

The first thing is that I could hardly use English outside of Taipei. Most people speak Chinese. All I could do was use hand language and Google Translate.

The driver called me at night to arrange the time to pick us up from the hotel. I picked up the phone and said “Wèi”, which is the “hello” word that native speakers use.

Can you imagine what happened? He spoke all Chinese to me and I needed to ask for help from my friends!

The food outside Taipei was mostly in traditional Chinese style. I tried much local food there, and though they looked quite strange, the taste was quite good. Here are some food I ate.

Another thing is that the cities outside Taipei have more natural attractions. I enjoyed seeing many sheep in Cingjing farm, walking along the nice lake in Sun Moon Lake, and feeling the fresh air in the Alishan mountain.

My friends and I were outside Taipei for four days in four cities and then went back.

We stayed at a condo near Ximen, which is a crowded place in Taipei. It was very convenient for us to find food and access the metro to go anywhere.

If you come to Taipei, I recommend that you find a room on Airbnb. The cost is quite cheap compared to the hotels and many rooms are very near the metro. Mine was just a 5-minute walk to the MRT.

The food here is much better than other cities outside Taipei. I really liked the hot pot and bubble tea here.

All in all, this is another great country to visit. Anyway, I prefer Taipei more than the other cities outside… yes, because of the food and the fact that the transportation is much more convenient!

App Business Updates

Okay, it’s time for the biz updates…

As you may know, this year I have been focusing on two things, which are the app and eCom businesses.

My app business keeps growing every month. I’ve hired numerous graphic designers to reskin many apps. What I mainly did in this business involved doing the market research and uploading the apps.

I spent just 3-4 hours a week on this app business. Most of my time was spent on the eCom sites.

The revenue from my apps reached five figures a month. I was very happy because I didn’t spend much time on them.

Anyway, after Apple updated the policy, it affected all apps in my portfolio and my revenue decreased by more than half.

I was a bit shocked because one of my income streams had run into major problems. Although it wasn’t as much as the income from eCom, apps could make it passively.

However, it’s not the end of the world and I saw some positive things in this crisis.

I found that many competitors were out of the store. Actually, their apps were still in the App Store, but they did not update their apps to follow the new policy.

So, I’ve spent most of my time updating some of my main apps and most of them ranked very well in the store. Some of them beat the apps of my old competitors too because they hadn’t updated theirs.

My revenue from the apps is already back now and I’m sure that it will reach new high soon.

eCom Business updates

I just hit another new high in this business few days ago. If you follow my Twitter, you would see the screenshot of the earnings I tweeted.

This business required more time than the app business but it’s quite a bit easier to scale.

I have seen many people doing $10k-50k a day.

Yes, $10k-50k “A DAY”.

Anyway, you need to know how to do it the right way. Most of the time I spent on market and product research and continually optimizing my Facebook Ads campaigns.

I want to hit that level before the end of this year.

BTW, as I get asked about the eCom business almost every week, I decided to create a FREE training about the basic steps to start your own eCom business.

It contains 5 parts including more than 6,000 words in total. I spent many hours on finishing it. That’s why I haven’t had time to update my blog lol.

I’m sure you will learn many things from this free training.

Click here to get the free eCom training

Although you might not be interested in it, I suggest you subscribe anyway because I’m moving to another email marketing service. So, if you want to continue receive my updates, please subscribe to the new list.

What’s Next?

As I’ve already completed the free training, I think I’ll have more time to update my blog more regularly.

Anyway, the holiday season is very close and I have to prepare many things for my apps and eCom stores.

Last year I remembered that my apps generated much income for me at the end of the year even though I only started doing them in November.

My eCom sites also made it too.

I think it’s because most people take days off and spend time with their family at home during the New Year period.

When they have free time at home, they might spend it shopping online. It’s the New Year so they might look for new things for their homes or gifts for some people.

Many people might spend time on their mobiles too, so they might download some apps to kill the time.

That’s why most of the money is there during this time.

So I’ll work very hard from TODAY to finish on a high before the end of the year.

BTW, for the next trip…

I will go to Japan at the end of the year and will be there for 15 days…

Good luck for the holiday season everyone!

Can you point me in the right direction, where I can lean more about reskinning apps?

    Bank says January 9, 2017

I’ll write more updates about it soon 🙂

Alin says January 6, 2017

Why don’t you focus on the Android market?

    Bank says January 9, 2017

I heard that many people got account banned without any clear reasons so I don’t want to try it. Seems not stable.
